Report of Watton Society’s October Meeting

Watton Society held its AGM meeting, when the mayor Stan Hebborn officiated over the election of officers, all were re-elected for a further year with a new member joining the committee.

This was followed by a talk about “Project Linus” – the making of quilts for children in hospital suffering from illness and traumatised. “A quilt is a hug you can keep” is their motto. The quilt is something that is given to each child or young person to keep forever. They can be made to suit each person i.e. baby style for the neo-natal ward, girl or boy and even young adults up to the age of 19. Since 2000 when it came to the UK from USA, at July of this year, 313,564 quilts and blankets have been delivered to children in the UK. The local group work on a totally volunteer basis, meeting at Wayland Quilters. For further information contact Jane Lond-Calk 07809 702357 who is a local co-ordinator.

The Society’s next meeting is on Wednesday 20th December at 7.15pm at the Watton Christian Community Centre. “Three’s Company” will present – “A Countdown to Christmas”. Festive refreshments will be served. Members £4. non-members £5. Everyone Welcome. Watch outfor the posters.
