Colin Hawgood – Saw Sharpener and more and for a charge you can bring your items for sharpening. Demo, talk on his history and anecdotes.
Wednesday, 18th December.
Bryan Thurlow – Music Hall Memories (Bryan did a recent talk on Being an Evacuee which was most interesting and entertaining). The cost for this meeting is £6 for members and £8 for non members. The usual mulled wine and mince pies will be served.
The Watton Society Quiz
The Watton Society Quiz will take place on Friday, 18th October 2019, 7.30 pm at the Queens Hall. Teams of four or less, £6 per team. No individual questions. Entry letters will be available nearer the time. 01953 882613.

David Spain – Photographer. David has had an impressive career in photography which he will tell us about. The list is too long to put here but includes film, military, fashion, travel, National Trust, politicians, pop stars and much more.

We hope to restart meetings on 16th September. However this is not certain yet and we will inform members directly and put a notice in the notice board in Chaston Place and in the Wayland News with up to date information.
In the meantime we are researching more green plaques for our heritage trail and investigating speakers for next year. We shall try to rebook those speakers we have had to cancel wherever possible.

Chanters Jigge will bring us ‘One for the Road’ a stroll through 500 years of street music, and will include some Christmas items. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served. The cost for this meeting will be £8 for members and £10 for non members.

Programme from January 2020
We are currently investigating provisional bookings for 2020. These will appear on this page when they are booked, and information on them will be updated depending on circumstances.
In the meantime – latest news – thank you to Watton Town Council for their grant of £500 towards the Heritage Trail and green plaques. We have several ideas for this and will give more information as we proceed.
The Watton in Bloom competition 2020 has been judged by the Mayor and results will be issued soon. Thank you to the Mayor for her help in this competition.
The poster competition for local children will be issued in September and due back in November. The topic is ‘if I had a magic wand what one thing would I use it for’, this does not have to be anything to do with a virus! it can be anything else a child wishes, climate, environment, any illness, animals, etc.
